Summer Meeting 2018

Greetings Brethren,

It is our privilege to host a time of fellowship and refreshment for God’s servants. The meeting here in Springfield will be on June 11 & 12. On Monday evening, following the service, we will have finger foods and desserts. On Tuesday morning, we will have a make-your-own Breakfast Sandwich buffet. After the preaching has concluded, we will be having a fish fry for lunch with all the sides and desserts to go with it. (There will also be chicken for those who do not care for fish.)

Most important is the preaching of God’s Word. During the meeting, we will be hearing from Bro. Bill Marshall, Bro. John England, Bro. Carl Boonstra, and Bro. Paul Gentry.

Bro. Bill Marshall is pastor of the newly renamed Riverside Baptist Church in St. Joseph, MO. He has been their pastor now for 10 years and God is blessing the church.

Bro. John England pastored the Ozark Baptist Temple for many years before God led he and his wife, Mary to start the Black River Bible Baptist Church in Williamsville, MO. God has been blessing this work tremendously. They have seen many saved and baptized and are in the process of getting their own property and place of worship. On Easter Sunday, they had 54 in attendance. Though that might sound like a small number to some, how many churches can say they had over 16% of their city’s population in their church on Sunday morning?

Bro. Carl Boonstra is a statesman for the cause of Christ and missions to local churches around the world. I am always challenged and stirred to here this man of God recount the former days but with a prodding to look into the future at what God wants to do through us.

Bro. Paul Gentry has been pastoring the Harvest Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Washington since 2008 up until just recently when the Lord led he and his family back to the Midwest. In March, Bro. Gentry accepted the call to pastor Tulsa Baptist Temple in Oklahoma. The Gentry family has ties to South Campbell Ave. Baptist Church dating back to the late 90’s. After God has used him and his influence to see numerous works established in the Northwest, we are glad to welcome him back home.

There are many fine hotels in Springfield, each with varying rates. If you would like assistance finding a hotel in your price range or whether or not a hotel has a good reputation, please call the church at 417-862-8471.

We look forward to seeing you in June! God Bless!

Pastor Joe Decker, Jr.
